Mas Amedda Costume Variety

Description

Amedda has always been one of my favourite non-Neimoidian characters, and, outside of Neimoidians, I think he has the most elegant and beautiful variety of costumes. I daresay, he has better fashion sense than Palpatine.

The first three are self-explanatory, and seen during his brief appearances in Episodes I, II, and III. His Episode II robes are my favourite, not only of these three, but of his entire wardrobe. I think he looks incredibly regal - as though he should be chancellor, himself. It's interesting to note the change in colour from reds to yellows. In the old canon, it was said that Chagrians wore red in times of war, so I find it interesting that this being, who is privy to Palpatine's darkest secrets, suddenly switches to gold just before the end of the Clone Wars. It's my least-favourite of the three. I think red suits him better; however, I would love to see his Episode II robes with the Speaker's Staff.

The fourth one along, his robes from The Clone Wars TV series, is my second-favourite, and I find it really interesting to note the transition in style and colour between his Episode II and Episode III robes. Again, during the height of war, he continues to wear red. I'm also aware that TCW actually aired in 2008; however, Amedda did not appear in the series until 2010, and the dates I note are of his appearances.

The fifth one is the best translation I could do from his brief appearance in a recent Lando comic. The robes are clearly a slightly modified version of his Episode III robes - a different crest/collar, and a less vibrant gold colour, while the inner robes and sash are completely different.

The final one is based on a piece of concept art posted recently of costume ideas for Episode III (36.media.tumblr.com/b8dfd07e2e…). The image contained two pieces of potential robe ideas, and elements from both can clearly be seen in his final costume in the film. The one I did was the less used of the two; the remaining one was, more or less, exactly his Episode III robes, recoloured and repatterned.
